There are basically three shock types available from most of the shock manufacturers: emulsion type, internal floating piston type, and reservoir type. Do a search on the topic before you make your final decision. I even posted some pics on the process. The suspension tuner is recommending I do K-Tech fork internals and a K-Tech rear shock. I just want to get everyones opinion here before I spend $3k on shocks. I want to make sure I'm making the right choice. Choice 1: Ohlins 30mm fork kit. Ohlins 10mm fork extender caps (required on 2011 gsxr-600 from my understanding)IIRC, the Ohlins is a standard body and the spring is selected for your weight when you order the shock. Individual shops may elect to adjust the valving on the Ohlins but that is not a factory option. I've had both Ohlins and Legend (Air) on my prior Street Glides. I bought my Ohlins from Howard (great guy), but was never truly able to "dial them in". My Legend Air Ride totally sucked and returned them 2X. In the end Legend had said that due to my skinny ass (135lbs) I just didn't weigh enough to have them perform adequately.DFV gives very good compression damping especially on road with lots of undulation such Wales black mountain roads, pot holes etc. The DFV is good on track if you touch a big curb.
